1911

the beginning

Arnold Lumber Company

Carold "Kit" Arnold opens Arnold Lumber Company in Rhode Island, first as a saw mill, later a retail establishment. The family business flourishes for generations.

The Idea

Where it all began

“Art” Arnold Jr. sells an Adirondack chair crafted from mahogany at the Arnold Lumber Door Shop. What starts as a hobby quickly becomes a sought-after furniture business, with orders piling up faster than the shop can handle.

Rooted in Rhode Island

A Dedicated Home

With orders growing, Arnold Lumber establishes a dedicated manufacturing and distribution space in Rhode Island. Seaside Casual Furniture is officially born, designing and building furniture crafted from mahogany with the support of the local community.

Five Generations

A Legacy Built

After five generations of Arnolds, Seaside Casual has grown into an award-winning outdoor furniture company known for design range, material innovation, and the quiet reliability of everything it builds.

Sister Bay Furniture Joins Prestwick

The Prestwick Companies grows its portfolio, bringing Sister Bay Furniture Co. into the family to strengthen its outdoor furniture offering. The foundation for what would become a leading outdoor furniture brand is set.

A New Chapter

Seaside Casual Joins Prestwick

Seaside Casual is acquired in 2025 by The Prestwick Companies, a family-owned, Made in the USA furniture and furnishings company based in Sussex, Wisconsin. Manufacturing continues in Rhode Island, and Seaside Casual begins a new chapter alongside its new sister brand, Sister Bay Furniture, expanding our range of products.
