Outdoor furniture maintenance usually comes with a list: sanding, oiling, and staining in spring, covering before each rainfall and the first frost, repeat every year. Seaside Casual furniture skips almost all of that.

Frames

High-Grade HDPE does not require sealing, painting, or staining at any point in the year. It will not rot or splinter, and the UV inhibitors built into the material resist fading. It is not affected by most corrosive substances and will not absorb moisture or promote bacterial growth. Keeping it looking the way it did on day one comes down to a bucket of warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge, followed by a quick rinse. For dirt worked into a textured grain or a grooved profile, a soft-bristle brush lifts it without marking the surface. The stainless steel fasteners used throughout are virtually maintenance-free under normal conditions, though hardware in coastal areas benefits from regular rinsing to keep performing the way it should.

One thing worth keeping in mind: resting a hot pan or grill tool directly on a HDPE lumber surface is worth avoiding, even though the material handles sun and rain without issue.

Cushions

Like our signature highest-quality HDPE lumber, our cushion fabric is solution-dyed, meaning color runs through the fiber itself rather than sitting on the surface, so it holds up well against fading, water, and everyday spills. Brushing off loose dirt and debris regularly keeps it from settling into the weave. For a spill or a spot, a mild soap and water solution applied with a soft brush, followed by a thorough rinse and a full air-dry, handles most of what a season brings.

After a heavy rain, unzipping the cover slightly and standing the cushion on its edge helps water drain out rather than sit inside the fill. Storing cushions indoors or in a dry deck box during the off-season, while the frames stay out, adds years to how they look and feel.

If you run into a stain that won't lift or a question about a specific material, our team is happy to walk through it with you.
